Everything You Need to Know About the All-New Kia EV9
Spacious 7-Passenger All-Electric SUV
The 2024 Kia EV9 will usher in a new era of SUVs. This spacious, seven-passenger SUV is powered by a robust, fully-electric powertrain, proving that large vehicles can be efficiently electrified. The innovative SUV is similar in size to the popular Kia Telluride and it uses the scaleable E-GMP platform that Hyundai and Kia use to power vehicles like the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6.
The EV9 will be one of a few three-row electric SUVs, and it will be priced lower than many gas-powered models. Kia of Cape Coral expects the large EV will arrive on the dealership lot in Cape Coral, FL in late 2023.
Configurations, Range, and Capabilities
This impressively equipped electric SUV will be outfitted with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. The Standard entry-level trim will have a single motor, a 76.1-kWh battery pack, 215 horsepower, and an estimated 223 miles of range. The Long Range trim will also have a rear-wheel drive model, but with a larger 99.8-kWh battery pack, 300 miles of range, and 201 horsepower. All-wheel-drive EV9 SUVs will also have the larger battery pack, 379 horsepower, an optional Boost mode, and a shorter range. In 2025, the automaker is expected to release a GT model with over 500 horsepower - like the Kia EV6 GT.
Like its sibling, the Kia Telluride, the EV9 will have a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. The large batteries add significant weight to any vehicle, so expect the electric motor range to drop while towing.
The E-GMP platform uses an 800-volt electrical architecture that lets DC-fast charging stations do their jobs. With a 230-kw DC-fast charger, the EV9 will add about 150 miles of range in about 15 minutes. The smaller EVs from Kia can charge from 10% to 80% in about 25 minutes with a DC-fast charging station. The 76.1-kWh battery will fill in a similar time, while the 99.8-kWh battery will take longer to charge.
Modern Technology and Luxurious Interior Finishes
When Kia vehicles first arrived on US shores, the vehicles were value-priced with minimal features. However, they did have a legendary warranty. Kia has worked hard to redesign its lineup by adding attractive styling and innovative features that rival luxury brands.
The 2024 Kia EV9 interior will be available with seating for six or seven, with second-row captain’s chairs or a bench. Upholstery will be synthetic leather - but this is commonplace for many EVs. Kia will offer heated, ventilated, and massaging seats for the first and second rows.
The spacious SUV will have 20.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the third-row upright with about 82 feet of cargo space with the second and third rows folded.
The EV9 will feature two 12.3-inch screens for the digital gauge cluster and infotainment system. The climate controls will be between the two screens. Kia is keeping the next-gen infotainment tech a secret until the EV arrives on dealership lots.
Safety features will include standard tech like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Departure Warning with Lane-Keep Assist, Blind-Spot Monitoring, and a Rearview Camera.
